Bluejay Basketball adds 4 more recruitsPublished by on
Minnesota West Men’s Basketball Coach Justin Heckenlaible has announced that the Bluejays have signed 4 more recruits for the 2014-2015 season.
The 4 recruits are Marcus Potter from Worthington, Alex Knutson from Westbrook, Cody Martinz from Custer (SD) and Mitch Prouty from Bryant (SD)
Potter, a 6'2" point guard, is coming off a senior season with the Worthington Trojans were he was a 2014 Southwest Conference All-Conference selection. He averaged 15 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Coach Heckenlaible said about Potter: “Marcus can get to the basket and can hit from the three when he is left open, we are excited that he is joining our program. He had a very successful high school career, and we look forward to working with him the next two years.”
Knutson, a 6'1" guard, was a Red Rock Conference All-Conference selection for the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers in his senior season, averaging 18 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals per game. Coach Heckenlaible said of Knutson: “Alex is a tough competitor that can score in a lot of different ways, we are happy that he has decided to join our program. He had a very successful high school career, and was coached well by Derrick Jenniges at Westbrook-Walnut Grove and we look forward to his continued improvement the next two years.”
Mitch Prouty, a 6’1 guard, attended Clark-Willow Lake High School. Prouty averaged 12 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game and also shot 44% from the three point line. He was named to the first team Northeast Conference for the 2014 Season. Coach Heckenlaible said of Prouty: “Mitch can really shoot the ball which will help us this year, he’ll be a great addition to our program. He has been well coached by his high school coach Jerome Nesheim and comes from a very successful high school program. We look forward to the continued improvement in his basketball skills the next two years.”
Cody Martinz, a 5’10 guard, attended Custer High School. Martinz in his senior year in high school averaged 15 points and 5 assists per game and also shot 33% from the three point line and 89% from free throw line. He was named to the first team Black Hills Conference his senior year. Coach Heckenlaible said of Prouty: “Cody can play both point guard and off guard positions and can really shoot the ball which will help us this year. He has been well coached by his high school coach the legendary Larry Luitjens. We look forward to him joining our program this year.”
