Former Worthington Trojan basketball standout Jalen Voss has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Voss, now a junior at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell (SD), started the week with 23 points and eight rebounds in DWU’s 84-81 win over Briar Cliff. He went 8-for-11 from the field and 7-for-7 from the line, and he also had three assists.
On Sunday, Voss had 26 points and eight rebounds as the Tigers fell 82-71 to the Warriors. He went 9-for-16 from the field and 7-for-7 from the line. In two games this past week, he averaged 24.5 points, eight rebounds, two assists and went 14-for-14 from the line.
This marks the first weekly GPAC honor of Voss’ career. He earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors as a sophomore in 2012-13, and was named the league’s co-Freshman-of-the-Year in 2011-12.
Voss and the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers (13-9, 6-6) are back at home Wednesday, Jan. 29, when they host Morningside College – which is receiving votes in the NAIA – at 8 p.m. at the Corn Palace.
