Friday Results from the Rumble on the Red in Fargo (ND)

The annual Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament got underway Friday in Fargo (ND). Worthington and Windom/Mountain Lake Area are among many teams in action this weekend.

106 pounds: Hser eh Pwae received a first-round bye. In the 2nd round, Hser eh Pwae picked up a 9-3 decision over Mitchell Wilson of St. Francis. In the 3rd round, Hser eh Pwae fell to Kyle Rathman of Apple Valley by a 6-1 decision. In the wrestlebacks, Hser eh Pwae picked up a 6-0 decision over Tyler Eischens of Anoka. Hser eh Pwae will face Tyler Toepke-Floyd in a wrestleback match today

113 pounds: Worthington’s Hser Moo Pwae received a first-round bye, but lost by a quick fall in 39 seconds in the 2nd round to Jake Allar of Benilde-St. Margaret. In the wrestlebacks, Hser Moo Pwae picked up an 11-9 decision victory over Matthew Neumiller before falling to Austin Brenner of St. Cloud Tech by pinfall in 1:19, eliminating him from the tournament.

126 pounds: Worthington’s Anthony Luft received a first-round bye. In the 2nd round, Luft picked up a 13-1 major decision over Nathan Volk of Central Cass. Luft got another major decision victory in the 3rd round, winning 11-0 over Alex Green of Owatonna. Luft picked up a win in the quarterfinals by a 9-3 decision over Travis Swanson of Cambridge-Isanti. Luft will face David Flynn of Scott West in a semifinal today.

132 pounds: Jeffery Camacho lost his opening round match to Lane Berg of Central Cass by a 15-0 technical fall at 5:56. In the wrestlebacks, Camacho lost to Collin DeGrammont of Lakeville North by pinfall at 3:59, eliminating him from the tournament.

138 pounds: King Blanchette of Worthington lost in the opening round to Austin Hjelle of Thief River Falls by a 21-5 technical fall in 4:41. In the wrestlebacks, Blanchette picked up a 7-4 decision win over James Green of Andover before falling to Bryce Burnside of Fargo Davies by a 10-1 major decision, eliminating him from the tournament.

145 pounds: Cody Michelson lost in the opening round to Dylan Herman of United South Central by pinfall in 2:41. In the wrestlebacks, Michelson picked up a win by a 3-2 decision over Anthony Nemer of Fargo Davies, before losing a 4-2 decision to Sam Finch of Forest Lake, eliminating him from the tournament.

152 pounds: Torey Rogers of the Trojans lost in the opening round to Dayton Racer of Apple Valley by pinfall in 1:55. In the wrestlebacks, Rogers lost an 11-3 major decision to Brady Moulzolf of Royalton-Upsala, eliminating him from the tournament.

160 pounds: Worthington Zach Kempema picked up a first-round victory over Alex Hauser of Eagan by a 10-5 decision. Kempema picked up another win in the 2nd round, this time by pinfall in 5:15 over Calvin Streeper of Frazee. Kempema lost in the 3rd round by an 18-6 major decision to Justin Herold-Plakut of Woodbury. In the wrestlebacks, Kempema lost a 10-5 decision to Mason Stevenson of Kenyon-Wanamingo, eliminating him from the tournament.

170 pounds: Blake Schroeder of the Trojans picked up a 4-2 decision victory in the opening round over Carter Burn of Benilde-St. Margaret. In the 2nd round, Schroeder picked up a pinfall victory in 3:38 over Roman Burridge of Rosemount. In the 3rd round, Schroeder lost by pinfall in 1:12 over Corey Parsons of Andover. In the wrestlebacks, Schroeder picked up a 7-3 decision victory over Ryan Osberg of Elk River. Blake Schroeder will have a wrestleback match today against Justin Dunnell of Lakeville North

195 pounds: Worthington’s Carson Hagen received a first-round bye. In the 2nd round, Hagen picked up a pinfall victory in 1:06 over Hunter McCall of Wahpeton. Hagen picked up an even faster win by pinfall in the 3rd round, this one in 37 seconds over Jake Olson of Anoka. In the quarterfinals, Hagen won a 4-3 decision over Eathan Gumke of Jamestown. Hagen will face Tyler Midas of Foley in the semifinals today.

285 pounds: Trevor Wietzema received a first-round bye. In the 2nd round, Wietzema lost by pinfall in 3:43 to Bryce Kirchner of St. Cloud Apollo. In the wrestlebacks, Wietzema lost by pinfall in 3:42 to Will Mendez of Albert Lea, eliminating him from the tournament.

Windom/Mountain Lake
106 pounds: Evan Wiens received a first-round bye, then fell in the 2nd round to Tucker Sjomeling of Delano by a technical fall (17-0) in 5:56. In the wrestlebacks, Wiens lost a 13-2 major decision to Andrew Jahnke of Central Cass and was eliminated from the tournament

113 pounds: Wyatt Stevens of the Cobras received a first-round bye. Stevens picked up a win in the 2nd round over Keenan Morris of Fargo Davies by a 16-5 major decision. Stevens won again in the 3rd round, picking up a 4-2 decision over Ben Kelvington of Scott West. Stevens fell in the quarterfinals to Tyler Waterson of Spearfish by an 8-3 decision, dropping him to the wrestleback round where he will face the winner of a match between Austin Brenner of St. Cloud Tech and Austin Braun of Woodbury

120 pounds: Joe Fischenich of Windom/Mountain Lake received a first-round bye. Fischenich was victorious in the 2nd round, picking up a quick pinfall in 38 seconds over David Schober of Cloquet-Esko. Fischenich recorded another fall in the 3rd round, this time in 1:49 over Brett Byrne of United South Central. Fischenich was a winner again in the quarterfinals, getting a 16-3 major decision win over Dawit Gebreab of Eagan. Fischenich will face Zach Hasselberger of Stoughton in a semifinal today

126 pounds: Hunter Quiring lost a 9-0 major decision to Aaron Sistrunk of Chisago Lakes Area in the opening round, dropping him to the wrestlebacks. Quiring then lost to Landyn VanOverbeke of Minneota by a 9-2 decision, eliminating him from the tournament.

132 pounds; Jared Willaby of the Cobras received a first-round bye. In the 2nd round, Willaby picked up a 9-1 major decision win over Blake Simon of Albert Lea. In the 3rd round, Willaby won a 14-8 decision over Kenny Mark of Moorhead. Willaby gave the Cobras another semifinalist as Willaby won his quarterfinal over Logan Wood of Rapid City Stevens by a 5-0 decision. Jared Willaby will face Maolu Woiwor of Apple Valley in a semifinal today.

138 pounds: Luis Ramirez lost his first-round matchup to James Green of Andover by a 6-0 decision. In the wrestlebacks, Ramirez lost a 6-0 decision to Nick Holt of Eagan, eliminating him from the tournament.

160 pounds: Andrew Larson lost in the opening round to Brayden Kuntz of South Border by pinfall in 1:36. In the wrestlebacks, Larson picked up a pinfall victory in 2:03 over John Kelly of Eden Prairie and a 6-4 decision win over Nic Norem of Forest Lake before falling by pinfall in 2:14 to Brad Kroll of Royalton-Upsala, eliminating him from the tournament.

170 pounds: Gavin Mutz lost in the opening round by pinfall in 2:45 to Bobby Lee of Becker. In the wrestlebacks, Mutz lost a 15-0 technical fall in 3:46 to Caleb Worral of Fargo North, eliminating him from the tournament.

195 pounds: Vince Johnson of the Cobras received a first-round bye. In the 2nd round, Johnson picked up a pinfall victory in 2:56 over Ben Martin of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. In the 3rd round, Johnson lost a 7-2 decision to Tristyn Hanson of Lakeville North. In the wrestlebacks, Johnson wasted no time in picking up a pinfall win in 22 seconds over Hunter McCall of Wahpeton. Johnson has a wrestleback match today with Simeon Tschumper of Eden Prairie.
