Section 3AAA Football Tournament Seedings


The Section 3AAA Football Tournament is now set

Worthington is the #6 seed in the tournament and will get a rematch with the #3 seeded St. Peter Saints in the opening round Wednesday in St. Peter. St. Peter and Luverne were tied for the #3 seed with identical records and QRF ratings so it went to a 5th tiebreaker, a coin toss, to determine the #3 seed and St. Peter won the toss.

Jackson County Central is the #1 seed and the Huskies get a 1st round bye.

Fairmont is the #2 seed and also receives a 1st round bye

The other 1st round matchup will be #4 Luverne...

Section 3, 9-Man Football Tournament seedings


Hills-Beaver Creek is the #1 seed and will #8 Heron Lake-Okabena in the opening round on Tuesday night at 7:00pm in Hills

Madelia is the #2 seed and will host #7 Fulda on Tuesday night

Mountain Lake Area is the #3 seed and will host #6 Westbrook-Walnut Grove Tuesday night

Edgerton/Ellsworth is the #4 seed and will host #5 Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman in the opening round Tuesday night

The higher seeds will host Semifinal games Saturday, October 17th at 3:00pm with the Section Final to be held Friday, October 23rd at Noon at SMSU in Marshall

Section 3A Football Seedings


The final seedings have been released for the Section 3A Football Tournament.

The Adrian Dragons are the #2 seed in the tournament and will host #7 Sleepy Eye in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday in Adrian at 7:00pm

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton is the #1 seed and will host #8 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton is a first round game Tuesday night in Tracy

Sleepy Eye St. Mary's is the #3 seed and will host #6 Murray County Central Tuesday night

Springfield is the #4 seed and will host #5 Red Rock Central on Tuesday night.

Eligibility Meeting for Worthington High School Athletes and Parents


On August 6th there will be a meeting for all athletes and parents participating in sports at Worthington High School for the 2015-2016 school year.

The general meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The agenda will include Minnesota State High School League rules, WHS academic eligibility rules, and attendance requirements for practice and game participation. Following the general meeting, each fall sport participant will meet their respective coaches to discuss team information, pay participation fees and sign the participation forms. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced their 2014-2015 NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards

Minnesota West had 3 student-athletes earn awards from the NJCAA.

Great Life Golf teams up with All Day Fore Africa for annual golf event


At a press conference Monday night at the Worthington Country Club, Great Life Malaska Golf & Fitness announced their partnership with All Day Fore Africa for the 6th annual event to be held at the Worthington Country Club on Monday, July 13th

This year’s mission is named Abana, which in Rwanda means kids. The goal is to raise $40,000 which will help produce, manage and provide a nutritious meal 2 days a week for a year to 863 kids in two schools in Kibeho, located in Southern Rwanda in Africa

Press Conference for this year's All Day Fore Africa Golf event


Great Life Golf in Worthington is hosting a press conference tonight at the Worthington Country Club at 6:00pm tonight to go over details of the 6th Annual All Day Fore Africa event which will be held on Monday, July 13th at the Worthington Country Club.

This year’s goal is to raise $40,000 which will be used to help feed the kids from 2 schools in the village of Kibeho, which is located in Southern Rwanda in Africa, 863 children in all.

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their 2014-2015 Spring Academic Award Winners

Athletes are given MCAC academic recognition if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at the end of the semester in which the majority of the sport season occurs and they have enrolled in and completed a minimum of 12 credits during that semester

Minnesota West Basketball Camp


Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Worthington is hosting a basketball camp for area boys and girls at the end of the month of June.

The basketball camp will be held on Monday, June 29th and Tuesday, June 30th. The camp is open to boys and girls entering 1st through 8th grade this upcoming fall.
