Wilmont native and 2010 Worthington High School Graduate Steven Kremer has recently signed a 10-day contract to play baseball with the Alexandria Blue Anchors of the Northwoods League.
Kremer, now a sophomore at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, is coming off a fantastic season for the Mustangs. This season, Kremer played in 35 games for the Mustangs, finishing second on the team in batting average with an average of .374, second on the team in doubles with 17, fourth on the team in RBI’s with 22 and second on the Mustangs in on-base percentage with a .566. Kremer raised his game during conference play, finishing 12th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a batting average of .406. Kremer earned post-season accolades as well, being named to the All-NSIC Second Team and the Daktronics All-Region Second Team as well. Kremer was also selected to the 2013 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s All Central Region Second Team this season.
The Northwoods League is a Wood Bat league with teams based primarily throughout the state of Minnesota. Since its beginning in 1994, over 129 Northwoods League players and alums have been chosen by Major League Baseball Teams during their First Year Players Draft.
