Four Minnesota West Lady Jay Softball Players have earned postseason honors from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference
Minnesota West had two players earn First Team All-Southern Division Honors this season in sophomores Alayna Hall and Steph Behrens.
Hall finished the season with a batting average of .452 with 10 doubles, 6 triples and one homerun. She also scored 34 runs, drove in 15 RBI and had 35 stolen bases this season, which at the time of this article was still #1 in the nation in Division III. On Thursday, Alayna Hall was also chosen to the MCAC All-State First Team. She was a Second Team All-State Selection last season
Behrens finished her sophomore season with a batting average of .407 with 7 doubles, 5 triples and 2 homeruns. She scored 37 runs, drove in 21 RBI and stole 21 bases this season. On Thursday, Behrens was selected as a MCAC All-State Second Team selection.
Minnesota West freshman pitcher Christine Kazemba was selected to the All-Southern Division Second Team this season. Kazemba, who threw every inning for the Lady Jays this season, pitched 189 and 2/3 innings with a 3.76 ERA. She struck out 85 batters while walking only 48. Kazemba also had a great year at the plate, hitting for a batting average of .456 with 10 doubles and 4 triples and drove in 23 RBI.
Minnesota West's Cheyenne Platz also picked up a postseason honor as she was selected to the Region 13 All-Tournament Team. In the 3 games of Region play for the Lady Jays, Platz was 10-for-12 at the plate, a average of .833, with 4 doubles, 5 runs scored and drove in 5 RBI. For the season, the sophomore hit for a batting average of .506 with 19 doubles, a triple, 2 homreuns and drove in 34 RBI.
Minnesota West finished the season with a 17-12 record.
