New Competitive Section Assignments

The Minnesota State High School League has announced the Competitive Section Assignments for the next two years through the 2014-20-15 school year.

The biggest change for Worthington is that both boys and girls basketball has moved back up to Section 2AAA.  Teams in their section for basketball include Marshall, Willmar, New Ulm, Mankato West, Mankato East, Hutchinson and Dassel-Cokato.


Football remains in Section 3AAA but some new teams are in their section.  Teams include St. James, Sibley East, St. Peter, Fairmont, Blue Earth Area and Belle Plaine.

Baseball and Softball remain in Section 3AA, Cross Country is in Section 2AA, Boys and Girls golf remain in Section 3AA, Gymnastics will stay in Section 3A, same for Boys and Girls Hockey.  Boys and Girls Soccer will stay in Section 2A. 

Girls Tennis stays in Section 2AA while Boys Tennis is also still a member of Section 3A.  Boys and Girls Track and Field, Volleyball and Wrestling also remain in Section 3AA.

Other notable changes for some area schools:
Adrian will drop down to Section 3A for wrestling for the next two years and join Windom/Mountain Lake, Wabasso/Red Rock Central and Pipestone in that section

Windom moves to Section 2A for volleyball, joining Mountain Lake Area and Cedar Mountian/Comfrey
