Jirele signs to run cross country at Mount Marty

YANKTON, SD – December 22, 2014 – Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Matt Jirele of Worthington High School to participate in the track and field and cross country programs.

Jirele was one of the leaders on the Worthington cross country team and received numerous awards in the sport of cross country. He was 2014 team captain and named the most valuable athlete for the Worthington cross country team in 2013 and 2014. Oldham signs with UTEP

Minnesota West sophomore wide receiver Elliot Oldham on Wednesday signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his football career at the Division I level with UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso)

The Detroit, Michigan native led the Minnesota West Bluejays in receiving with 31 catches for 452 yards and scored 4 touchdowns and was a MCAC All-Division First Team selection this past season.


Worthington Christmas Youth Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament

The Worthington Christmas Youth Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament will be held this Friday (December 5th) at Worthington High School. This is an all-trophy tournament.

The division are Pre-Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Grade, 3rd & 4th Grade and 5th & 6th Grade

Weigh-Ins will begin at 4:30pm with wrestling to begin at 6:00pm on December 5th. The Entry is $10 per individual at the door or $50 for a team, also payable at the door. The entry fees DO NOT include insurance.

Buysse named MCAC Player of the Week

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their first Men's Basketball Weekly Awards for the season and Minnesota West sophomore Derek Buysse has been named the Southern Division Player of the Week

Buysse, a sophomore from Marshall, averaged 25 points per game, 7 rebounds per game and 3.3 steals per game in 3 games last week as the Bluejays opened up the season with a 1-2 record.

Minnesota West will host Mount Marty (JV) on Thursday night at the Center for Health and Wellness on the Worthington Campus at 8:00pm
