Final results from Section 3AA Wrestling Tournament


The Section 3AA Individual Wrestling Tournament is in the books and the Worthington Trojans ended up with 4 state entrants and 11 section place-winners. Fulda/Murray County Central will also send 2 wrestlers to state and had 4 wrestlers earn a medal as place-winners

5 Bluejay Wrestlers join MCAC Hall of Fame


The Minnesota College Athletic Conference's Hall of Fame Class of 2014 includes 5 former Minnesota West Bluejay Wrestlers.

Joining the MCAC Hall of Fame in 2014 were former Bluejay wrestlers Nate Hanson (1998-2000), Chad Uhrig (1999-2001), Karl Knothe (2000-2002), Bryan Cowdin (2001-2002) and Nate Buys (2002-2004). They were officially recognized as 2014 inductees at the MCAC General Assembly meetings in March of last year.

Sendoff Scheduled for Worthington Trojan Wrestling Team


There will be a public sendoff for the Worthington Trojan Wrestling Team next week.

The Sendoff will take place at the Worthington High School Gym on Wednesday, February 25th from 10:50am to 11:05am before the Trojans head to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Sendoff Scheduled for Worthington Trojan Gymnastics Team


There will be a public sendoff for the Worthington Trojan Gymnastics Team as they head for the Minnesota State Gymnastics Meet this weekend.

The sendoff is scheduled for this Thursday at the Worthington High School Gym from 10:40am until 11:05am.

The Minnesota State Gymnastics Meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion, There will be a fan bus heading up on Friday. Trojan Wrestling and Gymnastics teams qualified for state on Saturday


It was a banner day for Worthington Trojan fans as the Trojan Wrestling and Gymnastics team both punched a ticket to State on Saturday.

The Worthington Trojan Wrestling team was in action on the Section 3AA Semi-Finals and Finals in Redwood Falls on Saturday. The Trojans opponent in the Semi-Finals was Quad County. The Trojans got out to a fast start at 106 pounds as Jacob Prunty gave the Trojans a 6-0 lead with a pin at 5:39. HL-O Boys and Girls Basketball teams to hold fundraisers February 13th & 14th


The Heron Lake-Okabena Girls and Boys Basketball team will be holding fundraisers on February 13th and 14th

The Wildcat Girls and Boys basketball team have been raising money for former Southwest Star Concept student/athlete Tyler Leopold and his family. Tyler’s two-year-old daughter Elliana was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in September. She has been going through chemotherapy in Rochester and has a very successful surgery last week that removed 98% of her tumor.

All proceeds raised are going directly to the family to help pay for Elliana’s medical expenses.

Wietzema commits to DWU


It was National Signing Day for area athletes to sign Letters of Intent on Wednesday to continue their football career at the next level.

Worthington senior Trevor Wietzema has declared to play football at college for the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in Mitchell (SD). Wietzema was named the MVP of the Trojan Football team this past season and was a Big South All-Conference Selection. He has also been an All-Conference selection in wrestling and honorable mention all-conference in baseball. Trevor Wietzema is the son of Troy and Angela Wietzema.
