PIPESTONE – A 26-year-old Pipestone woman died Tuesday when her 2007 Ford Focus collided with a Freightliner semi on Highway 23 near mile marker 20 shortly after 5:30 p.m. Amy Redenius was northbound in her Ford Focus and Joshua VanHill, 26, of Sioux Falls, SD was southbound in the semi when the vehicles collided.
Icy road conditions led to a crash on I-90 in the early hours this morning that involved four vehicles, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 1:27 a.m., the driver of a 2005 Jeep Liberty was westbound when she lost control on the icy bridge. A second vehicle hit the Jeep, causing two other vehicles in the vicinity to crash while trying to avoid the pile-up. A non-life threatening injury was reported to the driver of the second vehicle, otherwise no serious injuries were reported. Driver 1, Yergalem Ghirmal, 36; passenger 1, Kiden Bokru, 52; driver 2, Ariet Oman, 24; driver 3, Juhara Abadiga, 44; driver 4, Brikti Nerhe, 34. According to the Minnesota state Patrol, all are from Worthington.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on Highway 59 in Yellow Medicine County, Brenda Parsley, 19, of Adrian suffered non-life threatening injuries when her southbound 2002 Pontiac Bonneville collided with a 1999 Ford Ranger that was heading north. The driver of the Ford, Mark Long, 63, of Clarkfield, also received non-life threatening injuries.
