WORTHINGTON – Janette Pigman-Kruse’s death has been ruled a homicide by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner, according to Nobles County Sheriff Kent Wilkening.
Pigman-Kruse, age 40, was killed by a shotgun wound to the chest in the early morning hours Wednesday at her home in Brewster. Authorities were alerted to the situation when her husband called 911 at approximately 2:47 a.m. to report someone had come into their home and shot his wife.

According to the latest news release, the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the circumstances surrounding the 40-year-old woman’s death, but have stated there does not appear to be any threat to the public at this time.

WORTHINGTON – The Nobles County Commissioners on Tuesday approved the hiring of a Social Worker for Community Services/Public Health utilizing Child Protection Allocation Grant funding.
According to Community Services Director Stacie Golombiecki, each county was allocated a grant based on the number of children residing in the county, the number of screened child protection reports and the number of open child protection management cases. So far is 2015, the agency has screened 217 cases, and approximately 86 were opened for service, Golombiecki said.

WORTHINGTON - Bituminous overlay work on Nobles Street from near Ash Road to CSAH 5 has been scheduled to begin Monday, according to the City of Worthington Engineering Department.
