SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa – The Spirit Lake Police Department arrested 24-year-old Quentin Karlyle of Spirit Lake on Monday after he allegedly drove a 2002 Dodge Durango into an apartment building in the early morning hours.

According to information released by the police department, authorities were dispatched to 2302 Sunner Avenue at 1 a.m. Monday in reference to a vehicle that had driven into a building. Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force makes 1,000th arrest


WORTHINGTON – This week, the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force made its 1,000th arrest since it was formed in 2005, taking another seven ounces of methamphetamine off the streets along with $23,000 in cash. The meth has a street value of more than $10,000, according to Task Force Commander Nate Grimmius.

On March 19, as part of a joint investigation, the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Ninth Street in Worthington.

WORTHINGTON - The District 518 school board Tuesday approved a new three-year contract for Superintendent John Landgaard beginning with the 2015-16 school year with a base salary of $152,000. That will rise in increments to $157,000 in 2017-18. Landgaard will also receive one extra vacation day, bringing the total to 36.
