KTD Inc. announces country music duo Love & Theft for King Turkey Day celebration

WORTHINGTON – King Turkey Day, Inc. has announced country music duo Love &Theft will play will play at this year’s King Turkey Day celebration on Saturday, September 19 at the Worthington Hockey Arena on the Nobles County Fairgrounds.

Love & Theft first impressed fans in 2009 with a top 10 hit “Runaway” from debut album World Wide Open. Love & Theft’s second album included “Angel Eyes,” “Running out of Air” and “If You Ever Get Lonely.”

WORTHINGTON - Nominations from county residents are now being sought for the 2015 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award for Nobles County. The award recognizes outstanding senior citizens who have contributed their time and talent to benefit their community after reaching the age of 65. They will be honored at the Nobles County Fair on Thursday, August 13 at 4:45 p.m. prior to the Franny Farmer Show.

LoVan makes brief court appearance

WORTHINGTON – Chim LoVan, who is accused of stabbing 19-year-old Blue Thyboualoy June 19 in Worthington, made his first appearance in Nobles County District Court Tuesday with his public defender Louis Kuchera.

LoVan, age 46, was charged June 22 with second-degree murder and second-degree assault. Thyboualoy, who was stabbed shortly after 3 a.m., did not seek medical attention at the time of the alleged assault. Authorities were alerted to a man who had been assaulted at approximately 6 p.m. that evening, and Thyboualoy named “Monkey,” LoVan’s alias, as his attacker.

MOUNTAIN LAKE – Two people were injured during a collision on Minnesota 60 near Mountain Lake Monday evening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 5:43 p.m., Avery Herrig, age 25, of Windom, was westbound on Minnesota 60 in a 2010 Jeep Wrangler with passenger Rachel Herrig, age 22. Also westbound was Jibril Rahmeto, age 31, of Minneapolis, in a 2011 Freightliner. The two vehicles collided, totaling the Jeep. HILLS – A Sioux Falls man suffered serious injuries when his 2004 Chevrolet Venture van left the roadway and rolled in the early morning hours on Sunday. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Obede Bikorimana, 27, of Sioux Falls, SD, was eastbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 3 in his van when it left the roadway to the right and rolled into the ditch, causing him serious injury. Renowned wrestler Dan Gable to speak at King Turkey Day

WORTHINGTON – The King Turkey Day Board of Directors has announced Dan Gable as the featured speaker for the 76th annual King Turkey Day celebration.

Gable will speak at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19th, on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Tenth Street.

Gable, a former University of Iowa Wrestling Coach from 1976 to 1997, won 15 NCAA National Wrestling Team Titles, coached 45 National Champions, 152 All-Americans and 106 Big Ten Champions.
