A reminder from Chief Cumiskey regarding fires

WORTHINGTON – Worthington Director of Public Safety Mike Cumiskey would like to remind people there is no open burning in the city of Worthington with the exception of recreational fires. Burning piles of branches does not qualify as recreational burning, Cumiskey said.

SIBLEY, Iowa – The Iowa State Appeal Board this week sustained the 2014 Osceola County Budget as it was adopted, but expects the Board of Commissioners to comply with budget and funding methods when certifying a 2015 budget.

A petition protesting the 2014 budget was filed in March, stating an objection to the method used to determine the public safety budget each town and unincorporated area of Osceola County is required to pay for law enforcement service. SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Authorities are offering up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of a man suspected of shooting a Sioux City police officer. Sioux City Police Chief Doug Young says the reward for helping to find 22-year-old Jamal Dean is being offered by the United States Marshal Service and Crime Stoppers, as well as anonymous donations.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington City Council on Tuesday awarded a debris monitor bid to True North Emergency Management at an estimated cost that varies with the length of job completion from $167,000 for four weeks to $249,000 for six weeks. FULDA – On April 20, Davis Moore of Worthington correctly spelled the word “physician” to win this year’s Southwest Minnesota Spelling Bee. Nearly 50 fifth and sixth grade students participated in the first round of the Southwest Minnesota Spelling Bee that took place last Saturday at Fulda Elementary School.
