Weekly "Bingo Night" 
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.

Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.

Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Pipestone County Museum 
Free Admission Saturdays, continuing through Memorial Day of 2013, features exhibits on the Pipestone Fire Department, Pipestone National Monument and Pipestone County Country Schools. Open hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pipestone County Museum.

Manna Food Pantry "FoodShare Campaign"
Now through March 31 - The Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is on! "Be a Hero, Fight Hunger." The goal of Manna Food Pantry is 75,000 combined pounds and dollars. Consider contributing today! Volunteers are also very much appreciated for Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. Consider donating some of your time to those in need. Senior Dances
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!

Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.


April 16 - Men's Lenten Breakfast

A Men's Lenten Breakfast will be held April 16th at the Sibley Christian Reformed Church. This breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m. with devotions to follow. A free will offering will be taken, with a $4 suggestion.

April 16-19 - Nobles County Library Spring Book Sale
The Nobles County Library will be holding its Spring Book Sale next week from Wednesday, April 16 to Saturday, April 19. The book sale will be downstairs in the conference room during normal library hours.

April 17 - Nobles County Library Easter Program
The Nobles County Library is holding its Children’s Easter Program this Thursday, April 17 at three different times: 9-10:30am, 11-12:30pm, and 1-2:30pm. Parents are encouraged to sign their children up for one of these times by calling the library at 507-295-5340. Kids will participate in an Easter egg hunt, play games, and make candy bunnies. April 18 - 30th Annual Good Friday Passion Play
The Osceola County Ministerial Association invites you to experience the 30th Annual Good Friday Passion Play on Friday, April 18th. Three different performances will be held at the Sibley-Ocheyedan High School Auditorium, at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are free and may be reserved by calling 712-754-3715. Group ticket requests are also available.

April 18 - Legislative Breakfast
A listening session legislative breakfast will be held Friday, April 18th at the Worthington Hickory Lodge beginning at 7 a.m. Reservations can be made by calling the Chamber at 507-372-2919. Cost is just $7.50 to cover breakfast. Invited to attend are Senator Bill Weber, Representative Rod Hamilton and Representative Joe Schomacker.

April 19 - Easter Egg Hunt
The Rushmore Booster Club is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19th from 10 to 11:30 AM at the Rushmore School Gym. The event is free and open to kids Nursery - 6th Grade. Bring your basket!

April 19 - Annual Indoor Easter Egg Hunt
The Annual Indoor Optimist and Hyvee Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Prairie Elementary School on Saturday, April 19th at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 9:45 a.m. Prizes will be given away, with photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny! This is open to youth 3rd grade and under (youth must be accompanied by an adult).

April 21 - Salute to Women Banquet
You are invited to the 42nd Annual Salute to Women Banquet on Monday, April 21st, 2014 at the Worthington Event Center. Cost is $27.00 per person. 5:30 p.m. Social, 6:00 p.m. Meal (catered by BenLee’s) and 7:00 p.m. Entertainment. The entertainment this year will be guest speaker Holly Hoffman, from the television series, Survivor – Nicaragua. April 23 - Matt Dunn Magic Show
Come to a magic show featuring Matt Dunn at the Worthington St. Mary's School at 6 p.m., with food and concessions also available. Cost is just $5 and funds go towards All Day Fore Africa. Tickets are available at Ax Photo, St. Mary's, and at the door.

April 24 - Red Cross Blood Mobile
The American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be in the Worthington area at the American Reformed Church on Thursday, April 24th from 1 to 7 p.m. The need is constant and the gratification is instant! April 24 - Neil Linscheid Presentation
Rural communities are not all about agriculture. Statistics suggest that fewer than 10% of rural Minnesotans are engaged in agriculture. Communities need to understand this statistic when making decisions about their future. The main reasons people move to rural Minnesota are not jobs. Its slower pace of life, safety and security, and the low cost of housing. How do employers tap into these things to attract recruits? April 25 - Arbor Day Ceremony
The Community Improvement Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Worthington will be holding an Arbor Day Ceremony on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. Each year the Community Improvement Committee works with the City of Worthington to select a location where a tree will be planted during the program. This year the committee will be planting a tree at the Center for Active Living, 211 11th Street. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. A proclamation will be read by Mayor Pro Tem, Ron Wood.

April 25 - Spring Star Party
Come enjoy a Spring Star Party on Friday, April 25th at 9 p.m. at the softball diamonds (on the southwest side of the Worthington Minnesota West campus). Telescopes will be set up to view the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, and other wonders in the spring sky. No equipment or knowledge is needed, and there is no cost to attend! For questions, call 507-372-3432

April 26 - Lorie Line in Concert
Pianist Lorie Line will be coming to town with her Fab Five and a brand new spring show. April 26-27 - Annual Gun Show
The 9th Annual Worthington Gun Show is coming up April 26th and 27th at the Worthington Arena on the Nobles County Fairgrounds. Saturday, hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Sunday hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come look, buy, sell, and trade! Cost is $5 per person with children under 18 not admitted unless accompanied by an adult. May 1 - National Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer is coming up on May 1st. Everyone is welcome to join in a prayer for our Nation on the Worthington Government Center lawn from noon to 1 p.m. In addition, a concert of prayer and praise for the nation will be held at 7 p.m. that evening at the Grace Community Church. May 3 - Sioux County Oratiorio Chorus Performance
Join the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus for its upcoming performance of Beethoven’s Mass in C Major on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel at Northwestern College. Tickets for adults are $8 in advance/$10 at the door and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at Northwestern’s box office or the Dove Bookstore in Orange City, at True Vine or the Dordt music office in Sioux Center, and in Sheldon at Touch of Hope

May 3 - Community Prayer Breakfast
The Worthington Community Prayer Breakfast will be held Saturday, May 3 at 8 a.m. at the Worthington American Reformed Church, featuring Sandy Jerstad as the guest speaker. Cost is $10 for breakfast and speaker. Tickets can be purchased at Ax Photo, Dr. Roger Johnson, Chamber of Commerce, or from any Early Rise Kiwanis members.

May 4 - Junk Mail Art Presentation
Do you hate junk mail? See it turned into art at the Nobles County Art Center, with the main opening on Sunday, May 4th at 2 p.m., with it featured weekdays from 2 to 4:30 p.m. for the month of May. There is no cost to attend.

May 8 - Senior Spring Fling
The Nobles County Senior Concerns Committee is sponsoring Earn, Share, Give – Spring Fling on Thursday, May 8th at the American Reformed Church from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. or a NEW option 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Keynote Speakers: Mark & Margaret Yackel-Juleen and The Power of Five, Pat McGill from Arnold’s Park, Iowa. May 9 - Leadercast

May 10 - SW Minnesota Fishing Tournament/Banquet
The Annual Southwest Minnesota Fishing Club Tournament is back for another year on Saturday, May 10th! Weigh-ins take place at the Elks Lodge,with the banquet social from 5:30 to 7 p.m., meal at 7 p.m. (prime rib) and banquet to follow. To wrap up the evening, enjoy an after-party at the Worthington VFW with a live DJ. Tickets are available for purchase from all board members! Come on out for a great time and help raise funds for new projects from the SW Minnesota Fishing Cub!

May 19 - Red Cross Blood Drive
The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at the Sheldon First Reformed Church on Washington Avenue, on Monday, May 19 from 1 to 6:00. All blood types are needed, new donors encouraged, and walkins welcome! June 7 - YMCA Color Dash 5K
Start thinking about registering for the YMCA's 2nd Color Dash 5K event coming up Saturday, June 7th. Packet pickup will start at 8 a.m. with the Dash starting at 10 a.m. (at the corner of 10th street and 2nd avenue). Registration is now open! Go to to sign up! This year's event will benefit the Y-Pal's Mentoring Program.


July 3 - Independence Day Celebration
The whole family is invited to the Village Northwest Unlimited Annual Independence Da y Celebration in Sheldon on July 3rd! Starting at 5 p.m., enjoy a night of carnival games, horse drawn wagon rides, fire truck rides, jumping castles, a ferris wheel, kettlecorn, food, and fireworks. Featured entertainer Casey Muessigman from the hit TV show ‘The Voice’ will perform on the main stage. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:45 PM

July 21 - Worthington Regional Health Care Golf Classic
