ONGOING EVENTS

Weekly "Bingo Night" 
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.

Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.

Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Senior Dances
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!

Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Free Dental Implants
Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Sioux County Oratio Chorus
Do you enjoy singing fine choral music? Would you like to be part of a top-notch group of area musicians? Then join the Sioux County Oratorio Chorus for this year’s season, beginning Tuesday, January 13! This year we will be singing Mozart's Requiem at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Alton on Saturday, April 25. Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Dordt College band room. January 26 - Fulda HS Band Fundraiser

The Fulda High School Band is hosting a Belgian Waffle Feed fundraiser on Monday, January 26th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fulda High School cafeteria. Cost for adults is $6, with students/seniors $4. Come for the waffles and stay for the Fulda High School Girls Basketball Game against Adrian!

January 26 - Red Cross Bloodmobile
The Red Cross Blood Mobile will be at the Round Lake American Legion on Monday, January 26th from 2 to 7 p.m. For an appointment or for more information, call Lynn at 507-945-8122. Walk-ins are always welcome!

January 28 - St. Mary's Supper, Talent and Art Show
The St. Mary's School Supper, Talent and Art Show is slated for Wednesday, January 28th beginning at 5 p.m. Come join the creative students of St. Mary's School as they celebrate Catholic Schools' Week! Student art will be on display and students will perform their talents on stage. Enjoy a delicious meal with great entertainment. Cost is a free will donation.

January 29 - Red Cross Bloodmobile
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will at the American Reformed Church in Worthington from 1 to 7 p.m. Consider giving the gift of life today and donate! Pre-register at www.redcrossblood.org, otherwise walk-ins are welcome.

January 29 - WREDC Annual Meeting
WREDC will host their Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at the Worthington Event Center. Social Hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a featured speaker – “Man with a plan” Beyond the Northland Mall, Brian Pellowski, PBK Investments, Inc. January 30 - Sheldon Show Choir Fundraiser
The Sheldon Show Choir will be hosting a fundraising supper Friday, January 30th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the commons at the Sheldon High School preceding the basketball game. Cost of the meal is $6.00 and includes a Langer’s pulled pork sandwich, cheeseburger soup, chips, water, and Karla’s Cakes cupcakes. Proceeds to go to the Show Choir.

January 30-31 - Winterfest
Worthington’s Winterfest will be held on January 30th & 31st. The event will kick off Friday evening at the Worthington Event Center for the 2nd Annual Red Hot Chili Cook-off! Entry fee is free with receipts of chili supply purchases from designated store OR $150.00 without receipts. Each registrant will be given Hy-Vee or Fareway to purchase their chili supplies from. Business, organizations & individuals teams are welcome! Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. Also, people’s choice and most creative booth voted by the public! Challenge last years’ winners: Heath Kruse, Andy Johnson & RadioWorks Radio Station! For cook-off details or to register contact the Worthington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at 507-372-2919. January 31 - Winterfest Snowmobile Show and Shine
The Frosty riders snowmobile club present the Winterfest Snowmobile Show and Shine and parade on Saturday, January 31. Bring out your Snowmobile New or Old and show it off! Head to Sunset Bay Lake Okabena, with set up beginning at 12 p.m., the show and shine starting at 1 p.m., and the parade will begin at 2:30pm. Prizes will be awarded! January 31 - Bullhead Feed
The Heron Lake Youngman’s Club will be hosting a fundraiser bullhead feed on January 31st at the Okabena Legion Hall starting at 4:00 p.m.

January 31 - Fish Fry Fundraiser
The Little Rock Community Foods in Little Rock, IA will be having a fish fry on January 31st serving from 5-7. Free will donation! Meal includes Deep fried fish, coleslaw, baby red potatoes & beverage. All proceeds will be going towards the New produce cooler. The Town Country Club will be serving the event. This is also a kick-off to the Town & county raffle. $3500 in raffle prizes will be given away. Proceeds from the raffle will also be going to Little Rock Community Foods to go towards the purchase of the new produce cooler.

February 1 - Pancake Breakfast
The Luverne American Legion is having a pancake breakfast on Sunday, February 1st. Serving goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Legion building.

February 2 - Rock/Nobles Cattlemen Annual Banquet
You are invited to the Annual Banquet of the Rock Nobles Cattlemen’s on Monday, February 2nd, 2015 at the Blue Mound Banquet Center, Luverne. Social Hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. with steaks being served at 6:30 p.m. The Food Morality Movement will be presented by Kevin Murphy, founder of Food-Chain Communications.

Mark your calendars! The Retail Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their Annual All Retailers Meeting on Monday, February 2nd at BenLee’s Café. Contact the Chamber for more information or if you are interested in attending.

February 4 - Social Media Breakfast

February 4 - Baked Potato Supper
The Cornerstone United Reformed Church Young People’s Baked Potato Supper will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Sanborn Christian School. Serving goes from 5:30-7:00 p.m., featuring baked potato with chili, cheese, broccoli and ham; tossed salad and dessert. Cost is a free will donation. Proceeds will go towards convention expenses for the youth group.

February 6 - Boyden Hull Show Choir Fundraiser
The Boyden Hull Show Choir is having a fundraiser Friday, February 6th, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m at the high school. They will be serving a meal with a pork sandwich, chips, bars, and drinks. Cost of the meal is $6.00, $2.00 for additional sandwiches.

February 7 - 1st Annual Memorial Run
The 1st Annual Memorial Run in honor of Kristin Crowell will be held Saturday, February 7th. 50/50 raffle tickets will be available all day at the Heron Lake Liquor Store with the drawing held at 7 p.m. Snowmobile, truck, or car -- no matter where you start your ride, make your final destination the Heron Lake Liquor Store. Social hour with appetizers and sandwiches goes from 5 to 7 p.m. Door prizes will also be given away. All proceeds go to the Brown County Yellow Ribbon Society.

February 7 - Guns Only Auction Bash
Iowa Great Lakes Ducks Unlimited, Dickinson County Pheasants Forever, and Southern Archery of Spencer are raffling off 100 guns Saturday, February 7th at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Okoboji. Doors open at 5pm with Kazzerelli’s chili served until 7:30pm. There is no silent auction or other raffles – this is a Guns Only Bash! Advance tickets are $20 and are available from any club member or at Southern Archery

February 7 - Kids Ice Fishin Derby
It's an Ice Fishing Derby for Kids! On February 7th, head to Willow Creek County Park for a morning of ice fishing. The derby starts at 10 a.m. and will end at 1 p.m. with a provided lunch. Bait, poles, and some shacks will be provided but you may also bring you own equipment. This derby is open to youth up to 15-years-old. February 8 - Informal Worship Service
The American Reformed Church in Worthington invites the community to hear former "Survivor" contestant Holly Hoffman speak during their informal worship service on Sun., Feb. 8 at 10:00 AM in the multi-purpose room. A free meal will be served following the worship service. This should be a fun and inspiring event featuring contemporary praise music and an uplifting message. February 9 & 23 - Fly Tying Basics
Learn the basics of fly tying on February 9th at the Willow Creek County Park beginning at 7 p.m. This opportunity is open to anyone 12 and up. Everything you need will be provided, with the first night of the 9th covering basic techniques, tools, and materials with the second night review and tying patterns. Please call the Osceola County Conservation office to sign up seating is limited. (712) 758-3709. Cost is $5 for materials.

February 17 - "Ready Rating" Program
The American Red Cross will be presenting "Ready Rating" at 8 a.m. at BenLee's. This is a program to help businesses, organizations and schools become better prepared for emergencies. The program is free and will assist you in making sure that your business is prepared to survive the impact of a disaster. Please call or email the Chamber to register by Tuesday, February 10th.

February 18 - Social Media Breakfast

February 21 - Heron Lake Young Men's Club Fishing Tournament
The Heron Lake Young Men's Club is hosting a Fishing Tournament with fishing at West Graham Lake from noon to 4 p.m. on February 21st. Entry fee is $10, or those 10 years and under, $5. Winners will be selected from the categories of Walleye, Northern and Panfish. Door prizes will be given away throughout the tournament, with raffle tickets available. Cost is $10 a ticket - contact a Youngmen's Club Member to purchase. Grand prize features a 2014 Arctic Cat 500cc Prowler, with winners all the way to 12th place. Need not be present to win. Proceeds benefit area youth activities.

Mark your calendars for the annual Nobles County Pheasants Forever Banquet on Friday, March 27th at the Worthington Events Center starting at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to RSVP to the Facebook event.

April 11 - YMCA Cruise Dinner
Save the date for the 30th YMCA Cruise Dinner on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Worthington Event Center. “Cell Phone – Tech Friendly” Silent Auction, Dinner and Entertainment. Tickets for the event & raffle will be available soon. All proceeds go toward youth & family programming at the YMCA. Back by popular demand Deuces Wild – Dueling Piano’s!!
