Weekly "Bingo Night" 
It's "Bingo Night" every Tuesday evening at the Reading Community Center! Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. with a payout of over $900 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading Community Center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open for community groups to utilize, such as the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, and other groups.The Reading community center is a 501c3 organization.

Divorce Care
Anyone that is divorced, divorcing, separated, or ending a long term relationship is invited to Divorce Care for Adults and Divorce Care for Kids Sunday evenings from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Participants must pre-register Monday through Thursday by calling 712-262-3016 anytime between 9AM and 3:30PM.

Nixle - Public Safety System
Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. Senior Dances
Come dance to big band sound music at the Spirit Lake Senior Center from 2 to 5 p.m. every last Sunday of each month (weather permitting). Potluck snacks will be featured at intermission. Everyone is welcome!

Senior Dining Volunteers
Lutheran Social Service Senior Dining is currently looking for volunteers. They are in need of individuals to deliver meals to home bound seniors, or pack up and get them ready for delivery. We have three routes with approximately 15 meals per route. The time commitment would be anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the task. We can work with any schedule, whether it is once a week or once a month the help is needed. If you could help in this capacity call Kris at the Center for Active Living at 376-6457.

Free Dental Implants
Mission Outreach a division of Four Square Enterprises is offering free dental implants by a licensed dentist here in Minnesota for qualified applicants that are seeking employment but are lacking the confidence and self esteem needed. Worthington Farmers' Market
The Worthington Farmers Market is now in full swing. Shop for fresh, local produce and homemade goods on Tuesdays from 4 – 7 p.m. at the parking lot at Second Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Worthington and on Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Ace Hardware on Oxford Street. The market continues each week through the growing season. Stop by each week and see what is new!


September 16-20 - Annual Hospice of Murray County Rummage Sale
The Annual Hospice of Murray County Rummage Sale will start Tuesday at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton on the 16th with daily hours 9 to 7 p.m. All types of clothing, books, glassware, dishes, bedding, luggage, and furniture are being accepted (and sold) for this huge fundraiser. Items can be dropped off 9 am to 7 p.m. through this Friday at the Fairgrounds. The final day of the Hospice Rummage will be on Saturday the 20th of September from 9 to 3 p.m.

September 16 - Pilot Car Certification Training
Minnesota West is offering Pilot Car Certification training on Tuesday, September 16th from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the MERIT Center in Marshall, Minn. September 19 - HL-O Homecoming Parade
The HL-O HOMECOMING 2014 –‘MISSION IMPOSSIBLE’ parade route has changed on Friday, September 19, @ 1:00 pm. The parade route will match up with the Okabena 4th of July parade and celebration. It will start at the foyer entrance of the school on St. Paul St., turn right (south) at Cty Hwy 9, turn right (west/northwest) at the ‘diagonal’ back towards Minnesota St. and end at the front of the school.

September 19-20 - Buffalo Ridge Apartments Fall Fest

9/19-20 - It's Fall Fest at Buffalo Ridge Apartments on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to noon in Worthington! Stop by for free coffee, apple cider, apple slices and apartment tours. You can register to win fabulous door prizes including gift cards to be given away all weekend.

September 20 - Car Seat Check-Up
A free car seat check-up event will be held Saturday, September 20th from 9 to noon at Marthaler Chevrolet in Worthington. To make an appointment, call 507-372-2111.

September 21 - St. Adrian Fall Dinner
The St. Adrian Fall Dinner will be held Sunday, September 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at the St. Adrian Church Parlor. Serving includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw, buns, desserts and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults, ages 6-12 $4, and ages 2-5 $2. Take-out meals are available in Adrian between 4 and 6 p.m. There are also big ticket drawings and raffle items given away! (need not be present to win).

September 21 - Spencer Drag Races
Enjoy annual drag races at the Spencer, Iowa airport on Sunday, September 21st. Street legal cars and pick-ups only, and will be inspected. Registration begins at 9:00 AM with racing to follow. Spectator admission $5.00, racers $5.00 one time or $20.00 for all day. Concessions on grounds and event will last until 3 to 4 PM.

September 21 - Swiss Steak Supper
The Lake Wilson Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is hosting a swiss steak supper on Sunday, September 21st from 4 to 8 p.m. Cost for adults is $8.50 ($10 at the door) or $5.50 for ages 4-10 ($7 at the door). Those age three and under are free. Tickets are available at Lake Wilson's Minnwest Bank.

September 21-27 - Active Aging Week
The Center for Active Living will be sponsoring Active Aging Week beginning Sunday, September 21st and will go through Saturday, September 27th. To start the week off the CAL will be hosting a Community Motorcycle Ride. Anyone that has a motorcycles are encouraged to meet at W-2 meats parking lot. The ride will depart at 4:30 p.m. weather permitting. The ride will end at W-2’s parking lot where there will be a community wide cook-out. W-2’s will be grilling hamburgers and brats and serving them with sides and drinks. This event is open to the public! There is no cost for the motorcycle ride and the cookout meal is only $8.00.

September 22 - CAL Golf Tournament
Make sure you grab your partner and get signed up for the Golf Tournament at Prairie View Golf Links. Fees are $35.00 per person for 9 holes and a cart. This will be a two person scramble. Check in time will be at 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. The deadline to sign up is September 16th. Lunch will be available for players and any spectators.

September 23 - Glass Etching Class/Wine & Canvas Event
Tuesday, September 23rd will be a creative and fun night! Starting at 4:30 p.m. the MN West Lifelong Learning Department will be hosting a Glass Etching Class at BenLee’s Café. This will be a Make and Take class with full instructions on the whole process of glass etching. The cost is only $15.00 for this class and you will bring home your work. Then at 6:00 p.m. the CAL will be hosting a Wine and Canvas Event. This group comes from Sioux Falls, SD where they host many of these events. The painting that will be done is called “Blossoming Tree in Moonlight”. It is a pretty picture and everyone that comes will get step by step direction and will walk out with a wonderful masterpiece for their home. No experience or artist ability is needed for this class. They will show you how to do it and walk you through it. Space is limited to sign up soon; cost is $35.00.

September 23 - Harlem Ambassadors Basketball
Get ready for some dazzling ball-handling tricks, high-flying slam dunks, and hilarious family comedy. Join the Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Show on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30 pm at the Sioux Center High School Gym, as they take on the FGSCP All-Stars, starring local area “celebrities”. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Free-will donation meal with chicken sandwiches, chips, and drink will be served prior to the event from 5:00-6:30 pm. All proceeds benefit the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs serving 9 counties in Northwest Iowa. September 24 - Brown Bag Speaker Program
The Nobles County Library is offering a Brown Bag Speaker Program on Wednesday, September 24th at noon in the Nobles County Museum (lower level of the library). Featured speaker will be Rachael Hanel, plus book signing.

September 24 - Health Fair Day

September 25 - Speaker Joan Seffend
Let the Adventure Begin on Thursday, September 25th at 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium with inspirational speaker Joan Steffend. Joan has been a national Emmy-winning news anchor and a top-rated host on HGTV. Cost is free to Center for Active Living Members and $5.00 for non members. September 25 - Wine Tasting at the Dayton House
Enjoy wine tasting via Paustis and Sons Wine Company at the Historic Dayton House on Thursday, September 25th starting at 7 p.m. Try wines with food pairings to include appetizers, main course, and delightful desserts. Cost is $20 per person and tickets can ONLY be purchased in advance at the Worthington Liquor Store.

September 25 - National Pancake Day
It's National Pancake Day! You're invited out for pancakes via Perkins with their featured "Give Kids the World Pancake Day" for free!

September 26 - Preschool Screening
Preschool developmental screening in the Fulda School District (for children ages 3 and 4) will be held at the Fulda Public School Gym on Friday, September 26th. If your child has not been screened yet and you have not received any information or a packet by September 17th, call 507-360-1671.

September 26-27 - 10th Annual Food for Kidz (Bagging event)
The 10th Annual Food for Kidz Bagging event will be held September 26th from noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lakefield Immanuel Activity Center. Donations are still being accepted. Any questions, call 507-662-5254.

September 27 - Rock River Pumpkin Festival
The 6th Annual Rock River Pumpkin Festival returns to the Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton. Enjoy a corn maze, pumpkin run 5k, pulled pork lunch, carnival games, petting zoo, plus hay and horse rides, a pie contest and a pumpkin launching contest. It's fun for the whole family on September 27th in Edgerton!

September 27 - "Corn Off the Cob" Variety Show
Head to the Worthington Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, September 27th for the "Corn off the Cob" Variety Show! Two different times will be offered; a 2:00 p.m. matinee and a 7:30 p.m. evening show. Cost is $12 in advance or $15 at the door for adults, or children/college $7 or $10 at the door. (Reserve seats by calling 507-376-9101). Enjoy a grilled burger feed from 4 to 7 p.m., featuring burgers, chips, cookies and a drink for just $5. Live entertainment will also be provided by Daisy Chain from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium Lobby.

September 27 - Pickleball Tournament
The first annual Pickleball Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 27th. Divisions will be men's, women's, and mixed doubles play. People can play in either recreational division or competitive division. Cost is only $25.00 for the first division and $5.00 for the additional division that you play in. Fees include a T-shirt to all participants. Trophies will be handed out to the top three teams in each division. The tournament is open to anyone age 50 and over. Lunch will be available to purchase midday. Check in will be at 8:00am and all games will follow. The tournament will be a round robin style of play and everyone will be guaranteed three sessions of play. Each pairing will play best 2 out of 3 to receive the point for a win. Deadline to register is September 22nd.

September 28 - St. Mary's Fall Festival
St. Mary's Fall Festival (of Worthington) will be held Sunday, September 28th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. featuring a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Cost for adults is $9, children (9 and under) $5, and infants (2 and under) are free. Big ticket prizes will be given away with a number of activities for both adults and children. A live auction will be held at 2 p.m., with the big ticket drawing immediately following. Any questions, call Judy at 507-372-2350

September 30 - "Informal Evening with the Minnesota Supreme Court"
You're invited to meet the Justices of the state's highest court and your local judges during an Informal Evening with the Minnesota Supreme Court. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. A short program including information about the court system will take place. In addition, Justices of the Supreme Court, judges from the Fifth Judicial District, and local officials will be on hand to visit with attendees. Tickets are $15.00 to cover the cost of dinner. October 11 - Fall Splendor Dinner
Enjoy a Fall Splendor Lutefisk and Swedish Meatballs dinner on Saturday, October 11th. Seatings will be available at noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. Tickets are available online and through the mail with completed form (found at and a SASE until September 28 and in the church office (Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. – office, back door) through Friday, October 3. Pre-sale tickets are $16 adult, $8 age 6-12, until September 28, after adult tickets are $18. Tickets are free for five and under. It's all happening at Grace Lutheran Church of Mankato, MN – corner of 4th & Main in downtown Mankato. Limited number of tickets will be available at the door, walk-ins are welcome.
