Alwal named top female basketball player in Mississippi

Mississippi State sophomore and former Worthington Trojan Girls Basketball player Martha Alwal earned the title of the state of Mississippi’s top female college basketball player Monday when she was chosen the winner of the C Spire Gillom Trophy at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
Alwal became the second Bulldog to win the award, joining Alexis Rack who won the trophy following the 2009 and 2010 seasons.


New Competitive Section Assignments

The Minnesota State High School League has announced the Competitive Section Assignments for the next two years through the 2014-20-15 school year.


Martha Alwal earns All-SEC Honors this season

Former Worthington Trojan Girls Basketball standout Martha Alwal, now a sophomore at Mississippi State, has earned a couple of postseason honors from the Southeastern Conference.

This season, Alwal has been named to the All-SEC Second Team and the All-SEC Defensive Team. Alwal paced the Southeastern Conference in the regular season with 16 double-doubles, a mark that tied LaToya Thomas (2001-02) for second-most in school history. Ten of her double-doubles came in SEC play, where she averaged 12.6 points and 10.0 boards.


MCAC Fall Academic Award Winners

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their 2012-2013 Fall Academic Award Winners.  


Jalen Voss named to All-GPAC Men's Basketball Team

Former Worthington Trojan Boys Basketball standout Jalen Voss has been named to the All-Great Plains Athletic Conference's First Team in his sophomore season.
Last season as a freshman, Voss was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference co-Freshman-of-the-Year and earned honorable mention accolades in 2011-12. He followed that up with All-GPAC First Team honors in his sophomore campaign, it was announced Wednesday by the league.


Gehl named MCAC Player of the Week for 2nd time

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their weekly awards and for the second time this season, Minnesota West freshman Tiffany Gehl has been named the Minnesota College Athletic Conference’s Southern Division Player of the Week.
