Voting Available for National "Farm Mom of the Year"

For several months, anyone was invited to nominate a farm mom who he or she believed made an impact in their community. American Agri-Women and Monsanto were tasked with narrowing it down from nation-wide submissions and have selected five final regional winners. Each regional winner was awarded $5,000 in cash from Monsanto.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Authorities are offering up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of a man suspected of shooting a Sioux City police officer. Sioux City Police Chief Doug Young says the reward for helping to find 22-year-old Jamal Dean is being offered by the United States Marshal Service and Crime Stoppers, as well as anonymous donations.


MFU Women's Leadership Conference a Success

Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) recently held its inaugural Women’s Leadership Conference titled Energizing Women and Growing Our Leadership.

Women are, and have always been, an integral part of the farm and this conference brought women from all across Minnesota together to tap into the leadership skills they already possess from working on the farm, and learning how to use those skills in their community, as well as meet and greet other women to share ideas and stories.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington City Council on Tuesday awarded a debris monitor bid to True North Emergency Management at an estimated cost that varies with the length of job completion from $167,000 for four weeks to $249,000 for six weeks. According to City Administrator Craig Clark, the debris monitoring will assist the city with meeting the requirements for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Tuesday evening saw the wrap-up of the 84th Minnesota State FFA Convention held at the University of Minnesota. Governor Dayton signs presidential declaration request

WORTHINGTON – Governor Mark Dayton Friday signed a letter addressed to President Barack Obama requesting federal aid for a five county region in southwest Minnesota following ice and snow storms that knocked out electricity and caused devastating chaos, along with millions of dollars in damage earlier this month.

Minnesota Soybean's newest issues video, featuring well-known outdoorsman, Ron Schara, shows consumers what farmers are doing to protect Minnesota land and water resources. Non-farmers are increasingly generations removed from farming, and may be concerned by the flood of messages regarding the impact of agriculture on water quality. Farming is just one of many human activities that can influence water quality. Farmers manage a lot of land, so they have more influence than most, but they also know and care more about it, and are actually doing more about it than most.

Wetsch pleads guilty to robbing Brewster bank

BREWSTER - The Shakopee man who authorities claim was responsible for the “Man in Black” bank robberies across Minnesota pleaded guilty today to holding up Brewster’s Rolling Hills Bank in January 2012 during a hearing in U.S. District Court in St. Paul.
