Final Results from Section 3A Wrestling Tourament

The Section 3A Individual Wrestling Tournament was held in Windom on Friday and Saturday and the Adrian Dragons are sending 5 wrestlers to the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament

At 106 pounds, Adrian's Beau Bullerman lost in the Section Quarterfinals to Zach Spinks of Windom/Mountain Lake Area by fall in 4:54, dropping him into the wrestlebacks. Bullerman than lost a 14-7 decision in the wrestlebacks and eliminating him from the tournament


Final Results from Iowa State Individual Wrestling Tournament

Class 1A:
132 pounds: Dylan Schuck of Sibley-Ocheyedan won his opening round matchup over Tucker Bluml of Riverside by a 15-4 major decision. Schuck lost his State Quarterfinals to Trent Johnson of Dike-New Hartford by a 5-2 decision, dropping him into the wrestlebacks. Schuck picked up a win by fall in 5:46 over Trever Greene of North Cedar, Stanwood before falling to Logan Mays of Wilton by fall in 2:37, dropping him into the 7th place match where he lost a 9-7 decision to Lane Nichols of Woodbury Central and finished in 8th place

5 Bluejay Wrestlers join MCAC Hall of Fame

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference's Hall of Fame Class of 2014 includes 5 former Minnesota West Bluejay Wrestlers.

Joining the MCAC Hall of Fame in 2014 were former Bluejay wrestlers Nate Hanson (1998-2000), Chad Uhrig (1999-2001), Karl Knothe (2000-2002), Bryan Cowdin (2001-2002) and Nate Buys (2002-2004). They were officially recognized as 2014 inductees at the MCAC General Assembly meetings in March of last year.


Sendoff Scheduled for Worthington Trojan Wrestling Team

There will be a public sendoff for the Worthington Trojan Wrestling Team next week.

The Sendoff will take place at the Worthington High School Gym on Wednesday, February 25th from 10:50am to 11:05am before the Trojans head to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Trojans will face #1 seeded Simley in a Class 2A State Quarterfinal at 9:00am on Thursday, February 26th. Radio Works will have live coverage on FM 104.3 the Party and online at www.fm1043theparty.com


Sendoff Scheduled for Worthington Trojan Gymnastics Team

There will be a public sendoff for the Worthington Trojan Gymnastics Team as they head for the Minnesota State Gymnastics Meet this weekend.

The sendoff is scheduled for this Thursday at the Worthington High School Gym from 10:40am until 11:05am.

HL-O Boys and Girls Basketball teams to hold fundraisers February 13th & 14th

The Heron Lake-Okabena Girls and Boys Basketball team will be holding fundraisers on February 13th and 14th

The Wildcat Girls and Boys basketball team have been raising money for former Southwest Star Concept student/athlete Tyler Leopold and his family. Tyler’s two-year-old daughter Elliana was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in September. She has been going through chemotherapy in Rochester and has a very successful surgery last week that removed 98% of her tumor.

All proceeds raised are going directly to the family to help pay for Elliana’s medical expenses.


Four Minnesota West Football Players sign National Letters of Intent to Move On

(Worthington, MN) Minnesota West Community & Technical College had four football players sign National Letters of Intent to continue playing football at the next level.

Connor Kunkel, from Luverne, Minnesota signed with the University of Minnesota-Crookston (Division 2)

Donovan Jackson, from Detroit, Michigan, signed with Austin Peay State University (Division 1-AA)

Stephon Hall from Detroit, Michigan, signed with Northeastern State University (Division 2)

Jonathan Johnson from Monroe, Michigan, signed with Southwest Minnesota State University (Division 2)
